FAQ

How much does it cost

The weekly fee is $23 greens fee (unless you are a Cambridge resident, then it is $20), plus $4.00 for prize money. You don’t pay unless you play.

Why am I asked to pay $5.00 to the league above the registration & GHIN fee?

The Monday Night League maintains its own website and the fee is used to offset the annual maintenance.

Where do I park?

The course has a small parking lot. If the lot is full you can park along one side of the street. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow for parking and signing in.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time in order to allow time for parking, check-in and payment.

How do I know if league is cancelled?

If league is cancelled you will receive an e-mail from the league coordinators. Sometimes the coordinators cancel league if rain or thunderstorms are predicted. The pro shop may also cancel league under the same circumstances.

If league is cancelled but you want to “wait out the storm” and try to play, call the pro shop and ask them if they are allowing players to go out. You may still play but it just won’t be league play.

Who posts the weekly scores?

You are responsible for posting your own scores. You can post on-line at www.ghin.com, via the GHIN app or you can post your scores on the computer that is downstairs from the pro shop. Read more about handicaps. The coordinators refer to the GHIN system weekly when putting together the teams, you may be contacted if scores are not being posted

When should I use the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)?

ESC is used only when a player’s actual or most likely score exceeds the player’s maximum. See Handicaps for more info.

How is my handicap used?

The scorecards will be marked with your handicap (for nine holes) weekly. Upon arrival you should stroke your card based on your handicap (if you have never done this, please ask someone to show you, or better yet, volunteer to keep score for the group). Your individual and team scores (and prize money) and derived from your net score. Your USGA handicap is adjusted for play at Fresh Pond, and then can change depending on if we’re playing from the red or green tees.

Can I pick up my ball during play and what are the consequences?

If, for any reason, you choose to pick up your ball on a hole, you are automatically disqualified from the “individual” part of the game. Place an X on the scorecard. When you enter your score, use your maximum allowable score for that hole.

Prior to picking up your ball make sure it doesn’t affect your team score in any way.

Can I pick up my ball on the green if it’s very close to the hole?

In an effort to speed up play, a fellow player should tell you to “pick up” if the ball is within a grip’s length of the hole (approx. 12″). You should not pick up your ball without the OK from a fellow player.

Am I supposed to wave up players?

To speed up play you should always wave up players on the par 3’s if they are on the tee when by the time you reach the green. Players on the tee should be prepared to be waved up.

What if I lose my ball and didn’t hit a provisional?

ALWAYS hit a provisional if you think there is ANY chance that you might not find your ball. To speed up play you CANNOT go back to hit another one. Drop a ball in the area where you lost it, take a stroke, and you are out of the individual game only.

How do I know if I win and how do I collect?

Weekly winners are posted on the website. Each week there is a team prize and an individual low net prize. Prize money is awarded as shop credit and can be redeemed through the pro shop. Check with anyone in the pro shop to find out what you currently have as credit.

How do Blind Draws Work?

When players cannot be divided evenly into foursomes we create threesomes. If the format of play calls for a blind draw, the fourth player will be randomly selected by the pro shop. The team score is calculated using the fourth player’s score. If the team wins, prize money is allocated to only the players in the threesome; the player that was the blind draw does not share in the winnings.
