Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?
$60.00 league fee paid to City of Cambridge
$55.00 annual handicap fee paid to MA Golf: massgolf.org/join-mass-golf/
Green Fees to be paid on the days you sign up to play.
$50 league dues for prizes and website maintenance.

Why am I asked to pay $10.00 to the league above the registration & handicap fee?
The Monday Night League maintains its own website and the fee is used to offset the annual maintenance and web hosting.

What do I need to know about signing up?
Golfers can sign up 4 weeks in advance via the members portal on this website.
Golfers must sign up by Friday to play the next Monday.
If you want to play and the website portal is closed, call the clubhouse.
If you want to play and the league is full, call the clubhouse and they will do their best to
accommodate you.
If you want to cancel – please UNREGISTER on the website by Friday or, if you cannot unregister
online, call the clubhouse.
Tee times will be posted on the website.

THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE HAS INSTITUTED A NEW POLICY THAT ALL NO-SHOWS WILL BE CHARGED A GREENS FEE!

Where do I park?
The course has a small parking lot and some street parking available. Please arrive early to make sure you have time to find parking.

Pace of Play
Speed is important, particularly for later teams at the beginning and end of the season when we lose light early.  Please play “ready golf” and speed up if your team falls behind.

What time should I arrive?
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time in order to allow time for parking, check-in and payment.

How do I know if league is cancelled?
We do our best to blast out an email when league is cancelled but, if you have any questions, please call the clubhouse.

Who posts the weekly scores?
You are responsible for posting your score.

How is my handicap used?
The goal of a handicap system is to level the playing field so that each round of golf is competitive and fair for all players regardless of individual skill.

Can I pick up my ball during play?
If, for any reason, you choose to pick up your ball on a hole, you are automatically disqualified from the “individual” part of the game. Place an X on the scorecard. When you enter your score, use your maximum allowable score for that hole.

Prior to picking up your ball, please make sure it doesn’t affect your team score.

Can I pick up my ball on the green if it’s very close to the hole?
Yes. If you are within 12 inches of the hole AND have been given a verbal ok from another player, you may pick up your ball.  Count the stroke.

Am I supposed to wave up players on the Par 3’s?
To keep up pace of play, we encourage teams to wave up others on Par 3’s when there is a backup.  However, do not wave up the team behind you if there is a gap ahead of you; instead, finish the hole as quickly as possible.

What if I lose my ball?
ALWAYS hit a provisional if you think there is ANY chance that you might not find your ball. You have 3 minutes to look for your original ball.  If you cannot find it and IF you did not hit a provisional, you may drop a ball in the playing area two club lengths from where you think your ball landed (no closer to the hole) with a TWO stroke penalty OR go back and hit another ball with a ONE stroke penalty.

How do I know if I win and how do I collect?
Weekly winners and amounts are posted on the website. Prizes will be distributed once mid- season and once at the end of the season.

How do Blind Draws work?
When players cannot be divided evenly into foursomes we create threesomes. Some formats give foursome a significant advantage so the pro shop will randomly select a player’s score to use to calculate a team’s score. If the team wins, prize money is allocated to only the players in the threesome; the player that was the blind draw does not share in the winnings.

What is the maximum score I can report on a hole?

Please select the hole-by-hole system to enter scores into the handicap system and the GHIN system will automatically adjust your score depending on your handicap and the difficulty of the hole.
